If you are an owner of website or blog surly you know how important is to get traffic. The next thing would be to improve site conversions. Traffic without conversion means lost opportunity!

So before you start working and promoting your website to attract more visitors to your pages make sure you have those 3 things in place:

1. Sign up box

If you wonder what is it, simply saying a box where visitor can put their name and email address to get updates from you or grab a freebie. Put it in the header, on the sidebar or as a pop out. The main goal is to get visitors email on your list so you can communicate with them and built trust and relationship.

Look at my post, at the bottom you will see a box asking to sign up. If you do, next time I post new article you will be notified via email.

To get such box you will need to sign up for a mail marketing service. My favourites are:

– ConvertKit – the BEST one out there, plans starting from $29/month,
– Mailchimp (offers free plan)
– Aweber (starting from $19/month).

But there are also few others like GetResponse, Constant Contact or Infusionsoft.

How to add Aweber optin:

2. Set up RSS feed

If you ask what is it – well RSS feed is something users can subscribe to get blog updates in one place. For WordPress sites your RSS feed will reside under http://yourdomain.com/rss but you can also use service like Feedburner. Another advantage is that you can submit your RSS feed to RSS directories to get more traffic and more exposure.

Here is the list of some RSS directories:

– Blogdigger
– Feedage
– Plazoo
– Urlfan

3. Add Social share buttons

Social sharing will allow your visitors to share the content they like with others. This days Google put so much attention on social shares. Content that gets shares is considered as very authoritative and will rank higher in Google results. Your visitors expect to find share buttons easily so they get frustrated when can`t find them. Don`t worry thought. If you run WordPress site adding share buttons is very easy.
Check this article about Social Sharing plugins and choose the one that fits your needs.

Once you got all above in place it`s time to look at ways to get more traffic. Stay tuned!
